Alec Baldwin Set to Host the 3rd Season of HIFF’s Summerdocs Series

Today the Hamptons International Film Festival announced the 3rd season of the SummerDocs Series, hosted again by Alec Baldwin. Baldwin will program the popular series with Programming Director David Nugent as well. The dates are: Saturday, June 4th; Friday, July 22nd; Friday, August 19th and  Thursday September 1st (Labor Day Weekend).

The first film in the program will be the compelling, heartfelt and truly inspirational, BUCK (the 2011 Audience Award winner from Sundance and Official 2011 SXSW selection).  The documentary chronicles how one man overcame the hardships of an abusive childhood and went on to become a horse whisperer, teaching horses and their owners how to communicate gently and without fear. Following the screening, a Q&A will follow with film subject Buck Brannaman and the host/guest moderator (TBA). BUCK’s director, Cindy Meehl will also be in attendance.

“He used to do my hair, but then he was lured away from me by the promise of fame and fortune. Now he works for Alec Baldwin,” said Ripa, adding that the stylist has even been written into ‘30 Rock.’

“He said, ‘I’m only going to leave Kelly if I can do someone who has more hair than Kelly,’” Baldwin said, pointing to himself.

“I tried to grow out my beard. I just can’t make it as thick and as luxurious as Alex,” Ripa admitted.

110 Stories Benefit to Feature Alec Baldwin

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, Sarah Tuft’s 110 Stories will be presented in Manhattan in September to benefit a charity to be announced. Participating artists are currently scheduled to include Alec Baldwin, Matt Dillon, Edie Falco, Sam Shepard, James Gandolfini, among others. Date, venue and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

110 Stories, according to press notes, “weaves first-person accounts, selected from hundreds collected right after September 11th, into a journey that recalls our wounds as well as works towards healing them.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones to Join Alec Baldwin in “Rock of Ages”

Catherine Zeta-Jones is joining Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise and Russell Brand in the upcoming adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages. According to Theater Mania, Zeta-Jones will play the mayor’s wife, a conservative woman who is against all things rock-and-roll. The role has been specifically created for the film.
